About Me
- Merle (Andy) Shelbourn
- Sturgis, South Dakota, United States
- I was born in Valentine, Nebraska on July 30, 1930 and raised on a farm/ranch on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in south Central South Dakota, USA. First 8 grades were in a one room school house and High school in Mission, South Dakota. Served four years in the US air force as an aircraft mechanic. Met and married my wife. First daughter was born while in the air force. After discharge from the air force,farmed for six years, the last two of those years was a county assessor. In 1961 my family and I moved to Brookings, South Dakota where I enrolled as a student at South Dakota State University, majoring in Agriculture and Education. After graduating, worked as a soil conservationist for the next ten years until my health forced me to leave this endeavor. After a period of recovery, worked for twenty years as a self employed carpenter and woodworker. During the past ten years have written three novels and my autobiograpy. During the same period,have been involved with a number of internet businesses. Have been married to my wife for close to 57 years. I have two daughters and a son plus four grandchildren, two great grand daughters and a great grandson.
